**About the Role**

You will collaborate with other senior leaders within the Directorate and across the National Public Health Service, as well as Health NZ's colleagues and stakeholders across government to implement, influence and develop new ways of working.

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the Clinical Leadership team in the National Public Health Service as a **Chief Advisor** in a permanent, full-time role.

The primary purpose of the role is to work with and on behalf of the NPHS Leadership Team on initiatives that will enhance the NPHS workforce. This role will provide technical and strategic advice and support for other business leaders, with the aim of achieving NPHS priorities by enhancing individual and team productivity and performance across NPHS.

This is a senior position requiring a diverse and deep skills and experience base to drive quality outcomes for NPHS. Your expertise will be drawn upon by different parts of the National Public Health Service including the senior leadership team.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

**About you**

You will have extensive experience in providing advice to senior leaders in a health context, and the ability to lead on complex projects and manage diverse stakeholders. You can draw on data, insights, and critical thinking to make sound decisions and recommendations to senior leaders. You are confident operating at a senior level, and passionate about the delivery of positive outcomes. You will have a collaborative mindset, you bring energy, expertise and innovation to everything you do. You can provide high quality advice, provide capability development and quality improvement across a system, using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice. You are experienced engaging with key stakeholders to ensure the voice of those with greatest need is well represented.

You will bring:

- A graduate and/or post-graduate qualification in psychology, organisational development, human resources, change management or related discipline
- 15+ years' technical experience in supporting workforces, experience in a leadership role is a plus
- Extensive experience in the health system, including at least 3 years' experience working in public health, with demonstrated knowledge of how public health workforces operate
- Experience at a senior level in developing options and providing advice, particularly in leading complex policy, specialist, or technical projects
- Proven ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences including clinical, government, executive/senior managers, and the public
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles under time pressures
- Mature communication and interpersonal skills, to develop, unify and maintain effective internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy
- Knowledge and skills to deal effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics
