We work in partnership with other public sector agencies, communities, businesses and individuals to achieve our vision of making New Zealand the safest country. We are recruiting for a Tactical Intelligence Supervisor (Training and Capability) to join the Tactical Intelligence Unit (TIU), within the National Intelligence Centre (NIC). This role is responsible for uplifting the national capability and delivery of Police's tactical intelligence (TacInt) function, as a key component of the Tactical Response Model (TRM). - drive the on-going growth of nationally relevant TacInt tools, techniques, processes and related training, which support the intent of the TRM - ensure the development and continuous improvement of TacInt continues to meet the needs of decision makers across multiple operational workgroups including Offender Prevention Teams (OPTs) and the Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) - enable the mechanisms and personnel responsible for identifying risks and opportunities regarding staff safety - lead the creation, development and delivery of high-quality, engaging training; - contribute to the prevention and effective resolution of the highest-risk incidents Police deploy to. You will be a member of the TIU. This is a high-performing, passionate team which is extremely driven to enhancing the safety of Police staff and our community. While we are a decentralised team, we are strongly united, with a supportive and inclusive culture. **Key Accountabilities** - Lead the professional development of Tactical Intelligence Analysts through high-quality training and mentoring. - Initiate and lead projects which develop the capability of the Tactical Intelligence Unit and Tactical Intelligence practitioners, including process and training enhancements. - Provide expert Tactical Intelligence advice while engaging with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and identify opportunities for the effective use and deployment of Tactical Intelligence assets. - Ensure that Tactical Intelligence processes support the intent of the TRM, and proactively update standards to ensure ongoing effectiveness. - Provide excellent leadership and support to direct reports, enabling them in all aspects of their role. - Maintain a positive, high-performing team culture that fosters diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement. Please note: You will remain based at your home station/local Police station, reporting virtually through to the Manager: Tactical Intelligence.
