**Quarry Worker - Cluden Stone Quarry, Otago**

We are recruiting for two full-time, permanent positions - one working at Cluden (employee based in Wanaka) and one at Poolburn (employee based in Alexandra/Cromwell/Omakau).

The starting/training wage is $27.80 per hour for those with limited or no experience. We would pay up to $35.00 per hour for someone already experienced in operating heavy machinery in a quarry and in using a stone cutting guillotine.

Our quarry workers operate the guillotine and cut, trim, and shape stone for use in the stonemasonry industry. They operate machinery such as the loader, conveyor, and generator. They carry out pre-start checks on the digger and use it to lift bags of rock. Our quarry manager is responsible for the more complex work.

We are looking for people who are used to working outdoors and are already fit and ready to start a physical job.

Experience operating machinery would be an advantage. General mechanical aptitude is a must (by that we mean someone who could start a water pump, do an oil change, or hear when a motor is under strain). You must be able to learn quickly, and have a practical approach to problem solving.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a labourer in farming, construction, or similar. There is the potential to turn this job into a career since we will support quarry apprenticeship training for the right person.
