About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi The Operations group contributes to this purpose by ensuring Customs meets its trade facilitation, border security and revenue collection outcomes. It does this by providing customer-focused services that avoid undue disruption to legitimate traders and travellers; by using high quality intelligence to focus on high-risk goods and passengers and by investigating and enforcing statute. To meet the demands of the dynamic border environment, we must continuously improve what we do. We have an opportunity for an experienced thought leader to be appointed to the role of Manager Operations Support. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the work we do. In the Manager Operations Support role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of Operations Support's capabilities, to strengthen relationships with strategic partners and to lead the optimisation of operations, systems and processes across Operations Support. Additionally, you will lead key project work, build and enhance strategic relationships both nationally and internationally and champion the roles of the Technical & Forensic Units, Customs Surveillance Unit, Covert Human Intelligence Source and Coastwatch Unit, and the Maritime and Detector Dog teams. The salary band for this role is $113,858 (85%) - $133,950 (standard midpoint) - $154,043 (115%) What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana In this opportunity, you will bring your extensive operational experience that you have obtained in a large complex organisation, where you can evidence strength in translating organisational priorities into goals, strategies and plans in your area of responsibility to ensure achievement of results. You will offer the Service a deep understanding of intelligence, investigations and enforcement work and the operational support mechanisms that exist. About you | Ko wai koe Ideally you will offer good problem solving and decision-making capabilities and be able to mitigate risks effectively. Having excellent interpersonal skills, using both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to ensure clarity of message and achieve the desired result are essential. You will need to provide demonstrated evidence of developing and maintaining excellent working relationships, networks and partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, as this role has a strong focus on stakeholder management. For the purposes of this role you will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance. What's involved (*) You need to have continuously resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years, or in one or more of the following countries: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom or United States. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level.
