As the Assistant Quarry Manager, you will work closely with the Quarry Manager to achieve safe, efficient and cost effective operations at the site in line with the business and operational targets through strong leadership and direction of day to day quarry activities with a direct influence on safety, environmental, production and maintenance (KPI's) including preventative maintenance program's for stationary, mobile plant and equipment as well as continuous improvements in quarry operations to meet sales, production planning and quality targets. This role is based in Hastings, Hawkes Bay.

**About the Role**

As the Assistant Quarry Manager, you will work closely with the Quarry Manager to achieve safe, efficient and cost effective operations at the site in line with the business and operational targets through strong leadership and direction of day to day quarry activities with a direct influence on safety, environmental, production and maintenance (KPI's) including preventative maintenance program's for stationary, mobile plant and equipment as well as continuous improvements in quarry operations to meet sales, production planning and quality targets.

This role is based in Hastings, Hawkes Bay.

**Your Main Responsibilities**
- Maintaining production volumes in accordance with the quarry production plan and ensure that the quarry production process is carried out in a cost-effective manner with a focus on continuous improvement to achieve business objectives and staff management
- Ensure that company safety standards and procedures are achieved
- Ensure that plant availability is maximized
- Assist in the management of satellite extraction operations within stringent environmental guidelines.
- Staff and Contractor Management
- Ensure all personnel are inducted and trained for the task they perform
- Operation to comply with environmental objectives
- Actively participate in Safety Improvement Team meetings and encourage participation of contractors
- Assist Quarry Management for site internal and external audits

**About You**
- A or B - Grade Quarry Managers Certificate of Competence
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an operations supervisor role
- Primary Industry extraction and processing of raw materials
- Passion for safety - previous employment in a zero-harm environment
- Organized with strong communication and people skills
- Able to plan, lead and deliver results for all stakeholders that exceed expectations
- Current New Zealand Driver's License (Class 2) including W and T endorsements
- Flexible with hours of work, including weekends to meet the needs of the quarry operations
- Experience in SAP, Google Sheets and Docs
- Problem solving and root cause analysis
