Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

In a world where our adversaries operate without rules or borders, the Government Communication Security Bureau's (GCSB) mission to secure New Zealand's most valuable information has never been more relevant.
As an Incident Coordinator, you will be part of a close-knit team, tasked with providing investigative incident response and digital forensic services to victims of malicious cyber activity in New Zealand.
This is a key role in managing our response operations through the lifecycle of a cyber-security incident such as:

- Receiving notifications about high impact incidents and gathering the required information to triage and evaluate daily will be pivotal in this role and
- Working closely with our digital forensics specialists, and the victim entity to understand the scope of an incursion is a necessity. Communication and relationship management along with security skills will allow you to liaise effectively with senior stakeholders and technical staff alike.

Your analytic skills and understanding of cyber security concepts will ensure the goals of the investigation are clear and all parties involved have a clear understanding of the risk and potential impact associated with the incident. Confident written skills are essential as you document response options and operational plans, and manage and steer the course of an investigation.
Once the risk is understood, evidence based tactical and strategic mitigation advice will be provided to the victim to assist them in remediating the issue. Your work will culminate in the production of high-quality reports for the consumption of senior stakeholders and technical specialists.
You will have direct contact with both domestic and international agencies, so your ability to quickly build strong relationships and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders is key.
A background in IT, cyber security, digital forensics or incident management would be advantageous and would enable you to excel in a highly collaborative environment.
We want our people to succeed, whatever success looks like for them. Join us and we'll give you significant professional development opportunities aimed at taking your career in the direction you want it to go. You won't stand still with us as we're committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement.
We're also committed to your wellbeing. We want our people to be the best they can be, both at work and at home. We offer our people comprehensive benefits, access to staff networking groups, flexible working and great work-life balance.
If you want to love coming to work each day, let us help you become Beyond Ordinary.
To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
