Reporting to the Head of ICT Security, and working closely with the Cyber Security Operations Manager, the **Cyber Analyst** will monitor and investigate events, manage incidents and take part in incident response, manage remediations, and educate/guide staff across KiwiRail. The Cyber Analyst may also assist with cybersecurity assurance and in the development of policies, standards, frameworks and processes.

The Cyber Security team’s purpose is minimise KiwiRail’s cyber security risks and employs an open and collaborative approach with internal stakeholders.

**What you’ll do**
- Managing cyber security incidents, and liaising with internal and external teams around these
- Monitor and investigate anomalous events, and liaising with internal and external teams around these
- Managing the remediation of cyber security vulnerabilities and enhancements to cyber security tools
- Implement and enhance the automation of repetitive manual tasks and activities - as part of wider continuous improvement efforts
- Engage with people across KiwiRail
- Contribute to the development and delivery of cyber security awareness and training
- Report writing, conducting assessments and submitting recommendations

**What you’ll need**
- 2+ years proven experience in Cyber Security or related field (such as network or system administration, and even software development)
- Experience and familiarity with IT security standards
- Awareness, ideally experience, with some or all of AlienVault, Trend Micro, Cyber Ark, Proofpoint, FortiSOAR, FortiAnalyser, or equivalents.
- Experience with powershell or python or similar scripting languages
- Experience doing data analysis to find and explain anomalies
- A customer-centric mindset and good communications skills
