Are you passionate and committed to fostering a strong and growing relationship between the Council, Ngāi Tahu, Papatipu Rūnanga and Māori living in our area?

As part of the Council's commitment to its relationship with Ngāi Tahu and Māori we are looking for an Senior Advisor to work alongside our Principal Advisor Treaty Relationships and provide the key role of providing advice and guidance to the Council on policies and processes that will:

- Strengthen the relationship between the Council, Ngāi Tahu and Māori.
- Assist Council to take into account the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and Council responsibilities to Māori under the Local Government Act 2002 and other relevant legislation, including the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998.
- Facilitate participation of Māori in Council decision-making processes.
- Increase opportunities for ngā rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu to exercise rangatiratanga, manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding and respect from iwi, knowledge in Tikanga Māori and have extensive previous experience in a similar role.

- Hours of work_ - Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street

Whilst staff working at the Christchurch City Council are not currently required to be vaccinated, applicants need to be aware that should the COVID-19 environment change, roles across the organisation will be assessed, and the requirement to be vaccinated may be reviewed.
