Mō te tūnga | About the role
As the Lead Adviser Māori Partnerships, you will play a crucial role in fostering strategic relationships and strengthening connections with Māori communities and organisations across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Māui, top of the South Island, and the West Coast of the South Island through meaningful engagement that reflects the values of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.
This role responsible for the active facilitation, and maintaining of regional relationships and engagement with whānau, hapū, iwi, and māori organisations to ensure Te Ao Māori perspectives at all levels of our work.
You will continue to build, maintain and monitor regional based relationships and partnerships with whānau, hapū, iwi, communities and all partners who support us to enhance the quality of our relationships to deliver better outcomes for all New Zealanders in our management.

**Accountabilities of the position**:

- Lead regional engagement with Māori and ensure strong, constructive relationships are developed and maintained in the region to support and develop formal and informal relationships with key stakeholders
- Identify, support, and monitor formal and informal relationships and partnership connections across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Māui.
- Keeps national-level teams informed of status, issues or risks as relevant to Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Māui.
- Understand the people in our management across the region and seek to develop relationships and partnerships that support the needs to improve outcomes.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- The successful Lead Advisor will have proven experience at a principal or senior advisory level, the confidence and ability to operate effectively in a Māori cultural setting as well as confidence engaging with whānau, hapū, iwi and marae.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within Te Ao Māori and have an understanding of Te Ao Māori worldview, Te Reo, Tikanga, and an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and Hōkai Rangi), as is required to facilitate effective collaboration with Iwi, Hapū and Kaitiaki.
- Awareness of justice sector trends and issues, the cultural, political and social environment of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.
- A commitment to our strategy Hōkai Rangi and vision of Ara Poutama Aotearoa to assist all people in our management to achieve well-being “kotahi anō te kaupapa, ko te oranga o te iwi.
- Adept at influencing and encouraging others to gain commitment and support for views, actions and recommendations, and to effectively manage the resolution of conflicts.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary range for this role is $98,215 - $138,656 (with the midpoint/100% of the range at $115,546). Appointments are based on skills and experience relevant to the role.
