**About the Role**
- Join the Surgical Department as a registrar. Enjoy the benefits of working in a smaller hospital, experience general and acute medicine, with a supportive team of consultants, house officers, medical students and nursing staff.
- Your roster will allow for you to enjoy all that Rotorua has to offer with longer summers and shorter winters.

**About the General Surgery Department**
- The department has 8 General Surgical consultants covering the entire spectrum of General Surgery.
- They all gave various areas of interest; these include Colorectal, Breast & Endocrine and Upper GI surgery.
- The registrar will have an opportunity to rotate through these various units while also gaining experience in general surgery care.
- The department is a recognised training site for RACS surgical trainees and supports registrar teaching and training.
- Good support and supervision is provided to our registrars to enhance both their operative and non-operative skills. The department has a strong reputation for supporting our registrars to get onto training.
- This is a department, which will support you throughout your surgical journey.

**About the Location**
- Lakes is a geothermal wonderland and is also home to several scenic lakes, including Lake Taupō, the largest lake in New Zealand.
- Rotorua and Taupō are the go-to places for hiking, mountain biking, and water sports; you can also dive into traditional experiences and learn more about Māori culture in the region.

**About you**

You will have:

- a minimum of two years' post qualification experience, and a keen interest in providing acute and general medical care to our community.
