**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role**

The Office of the Secretary (OSec) is a small team that sits at the centre of the Treasury, supporting the Secretary to the Treasury to lead the organisation. We do this by providing strategic advice to the Secretary on policy and organisational issues, and leading key operational systems and initiatives for the Treasury. We are a team which has a broad overview of the whole organisation and use our judgement to support all teams to deliver their mahi in line with the Treasury's Strategic Priorities.

As an Analyst in OSec, you will have day-to-day responsibility for providing advice to the Secretary across one of the main policy groups in the Treasury. You will work to build a strong understanding of the key issues in your portfolio, grounded in trusted relationships with the teams who are responsible for the advice. This will put you in a position to provide support to the Secretary and other senior leaders on issues as they arise. You will work closely with a tight-knit and supportive team, that strives to learn and improve.

This role will suit someone comfortable working at pace, eager to learn, and passionate about lifting the effectiveness of the Treasury. Some of the experience, skills and qualities that will help you be succeed in the role are:

- Strong relationship building skills and the ability to establish trust and influence relatively quickly. You will need to be willing to listen and learn to get up to speed across a range of topics.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly. You will need to be confident briefing senior leaders at short notice on important topics.
- Proven ability to shift your focus to respond to the pressing issues of the day, while maintaining a calm and self-aware demeanour. You will often need to make sharp judgments of relative priority in how you use your time.
