Our Insights Work Programme is complex and multifaceted and covers a wide spectrum of MBIE policy portfolios, such as: migration, employment skills, building system, economic development, science energy. We support and influence the policy debate and provide direct advice to Government and information to stakeholders and the public.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Insights Analyst/s with a strong background in economics and economic analysis with a track record of leading and developing research and insights projects, to join the team. You will be a natural relationship manager with proven analytical and/or evaluation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives along with the ability to engage and support staff to help further strengthen understanding and awareness across MBIE.

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for leading projects and analysis across the Insights Work Programme which requires significant cross team collaboration and a close working relationship with our customers - MBIE's policy teams. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the wider insights, research and evaluation portfolio.

We are keen to hear from you if you have (several of the following):

- A customer-centric approach, with the ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion
- Extensive knowledge of research, evaluation or analytical disciplines
- Proven experience of developing and leading complex analytical projects and programmes in a policy environment
- The ability to translate complex and technical information into compelling narratives and insights to be easily understood by non-technical staff
- Be comfortable with and effective at guiding and mentoring other evaluators / researchers in their projects
- Foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, on-going learning and knowledge sharing
- Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities, and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
- Highly developed communication and writing skills
- Experience of working with IDI datasets
- A tertiary qualification (preferably post-graduate) in economics or a related discipline
