From medium sized subdivisions through to the most demanding of sites and New Zealand’s largest scale land development projects, Woods’ holistic approach creates innovative, strategic, and cost-effective solutions for our clients.

This is an exciting new leadership opportunity to join Woods and lead our Planning & Urban Design practice. As a member of the Woods Leadership Team, this role will provide overall strategic direction, leadership and management of a team of architects, urban design and planning specialists to contribute to Woods’ achieving its strategic ambitions and growth plan.

**Key Role Accountabilities**:

- **People Leadership** - coaching, mentoring and developing capability of team member’s to help maximise their potential, while growing the resource capacity of the team in line with Woods’ strategic growth ambitions.
- **Business Development** - Act as a rainmaker for Woods, planning and leading business development activities to identify and win new projects from existing and new clients ensuring there is a strong forward pipeline of work.
- **Service line performance and growth** - lead, plan and manage the performance of the Planning, Urban Design and Architecture team to deliver on agreed KPIs and business outcomes.
- **Client and project delivery** - oversee projects and client relationships to ensure that projects are delivered to a high standard meeting clients’ expectations for time, quality and budget.
- **Industry reputation and networking** - build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, industry associations and regulatory bodies to continually strengthen Woods’ reputation
- **Sustainability Champion** - ensure Woods’ design and advice helps clients to achieve more sustainable outcomes including the reduction of carbon footprint and emissions.
- **Health, Safety and Wellbeing** - Champion a proactive health, safety and wellness culture and take all practicable steps to ensure Woods is operating in line best practice for healthy, safety, wellbeing and inclusivity, along with all relevant legislation and regulations.

**Skills/Experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- 8-10 years leadership experience in consulting/professional service sector
- 15+ years’ experience in Planning, Urban Design or Architecture
- Extensive experience in business development
- Excellent communication skills and a recognised thought leader
