We are looking for one full time Assistant Customs Officer to work at Auckland's Northern Ports Inspections team. **About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi** As an Assistant Customs Officer, you will undertake a variety of tasks at Auckland's Northern Ports Inspections team across the Air Cargo Inspection Facility (ACIF), International Mail Centre (IMC) and Sea Cargo Inspection Facility (SCIF); and work full time (8 hours per day) on a rostered shift pattern. The successful Assistant Customs Officer will undertake a range of functions including: - Interact with internal and external stakeholders, providing advice and assistance, plan and arrange the maintenance of equipment and stock levels for the warehouse, examination room and office - Process goods in/out of Aotearoa which includes note taking, writing reports, data entry, scanning, quality controls and forklift duties - Ensure importers and exporters are meeting border requirements, and working closely with Customs officers - Preference to hold a current Class 4 drivers licence, or have the ability to obtain the licence while employed at Customs Being an Assistant Customs Officer means working on shifts including weekends, nights and potentially public holidays, and rostered across the Inspection sites ACIF, IMC and SCIF. **Working for Customs | Mahi ki te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa** - To work for the New Zealand Customs Service, you must be:_ You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a medical assessment and drug test, and must hold a full NZ Drivers licence. You must also agree to receive the COVID vaccine as a frontline border worker if not already vaccinated. **About you | Ko wai koe** We look for people who: - Have high levels of integrity, honesty and discretion - Have good communication skills and enjoy interacting with people and strong attention to detail - Enjoy working in a team environment but also working independently when required Interested?
