**There are some essential character traits for being a great chess coach**:
- Excellent communication skills and command of the English language is essential.
- A passion for working with children in an encouraging and positive way
- A focus on children's learning and engagement to give them the very best learning experience
- A basic understanding of rules of Chess and the ability to play competently
- An ability to speak in front of an audience of school-aged children with confidence
- Reliable, able to work without supervision, punctual and have excellent organisation skills and personal presentation
- Own your own vehicle & possess a current driver's licence.
If successful in gaining this role, we will provide full training through our APCC (Accredited Professional Chess Coach) program. We will provide you will all the resources you need to coach successfully.
**This role primarily involves coaching at schools with children aged between 6-10 years old.**
Chess Power will allocate classes to you typically less than 20km from your home. The role is flexible so you can choose the hours that you work and the number of classes you undertake.
You must have availability **between the hours of 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday**and **have access to a private vehicle**to travel to classes.
You will also become part of a group of professional chess coaches that meet regularly and share ideas and resources.
You will be required to complete a Police clearance as required by the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 - 5 per week
