Play a key role in managing the evaluation, development, implementation, and monitoring of OceanaGold Macraes external affairs and social performance impacts & engagement, planning.
Our approach to External Affairs and Social Performance (EA&SP) is to effectively and proactively build enduring positive partnerships based on a relationship of mutual trust and respect. This includes the way we engage with people and the steps we take to identify and manage social, economic, environmental, cultural, and human rights impacts and opportunities throughout the life cycle of our projects, from exploration, to project development, to operation and closure.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support development and delivery of the Macraes EA&SP annual plan.
- Facilitate consultation and engagement with community to identify needs and respond to issues and opportunities.
- Coordination and delivery of social performance projects including, events management, internal and external communications.
- Manage community complaints and grievances through the Macraes complaints management process.
- Manage and be responsible for engagement with local government agencies, NGOs, the community and other stakeholders
- Manage and be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of stakeholder engagement plan that supports operational requirements
- Manage and be responsible for iwi engagement.
- Lead the identification and mitigation of social impacts, ensuring early and full identification of social impact that leverages on existing data and management systems.
- Lead the development and implementation of a robust approach to social, cultural baseline and impact assessment process that is world class and defendable.
**Qualifications**:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated experience in stakeholder & community engagement
- Project and social impact assessment management experience
- Experience working in partnership with iwi is advantageous, but not essential
- A current full New Zealand Driver Licence (ability to drive manual vehicles is helpful)
- A degree or qualification in a relevant field or discipline ie Stakeholder Engagement, Communications, Community Development, or Public relations will be highly regarded
