**Te kāinga rua | The opportunity**

Join Beca’s award winning sustainability team (_2020 winner - Deloitte Top 200: Sustainable Business Leadership Award_), contributing to the growth phase of the provision of sustainability consulting services throughout Beca. You will be working with a passionate team providing sustainability and climate change advice from high-level corporate strategies through to practical tangible implementation across a vast array of projects. You will have the scope to utilise the vast and collective expertise developed over 100+ years across a multiple of disciplines, to turn actions into reality offering our clients’ end-to-end solutions like few others can.

At Beca you will have the opportunity to truly make a difference to clients’ climate change related challenges. You will be working as part of a practice focused on supporting clients to enhance climate resilience into their sustainability journey. The team you will be part of is one respected for their ability to provide high quality climate change consulting advice. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the values and culture of the team, as well as sharing and building on your technical experience and knowledge.

You will be working as a Senior Climate Change Risk Consultant focusing on climate change risk assessments, climate related risk disclosures (using TCFD frameworks) and climate adaptation. You will be partnering with our clients, developing an understanding of their business, their goals and objectives to then provide robust and pragmatic solutions to achieve their desired outcomes and enhance resilience. Our clients are spread across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific and you will have access to a range of sectors including transport, water, utilities, health, education, ports/marine as well as central and local government organisations.

Project management, research, workshop facilitation and report preparation capabilities will be important for success in these roles. You will have the opportunity to think analytically and holistically about broad outcomes, and to relate those areas to corporate, local and central government clients. An ability to listen, question, and analyse to provide a considered view and solution will be important. Skills in translating complex issues into simple language and excellent report writing will be required.

**Te rongoā | About you**

This role will enable you to bring your passion for climate change, combining it with your existing experience and expertise, to solve real world client problems. You will enjoy working with diverse clients to understand their needs and can work collaboratively. You will be motivated and ready to grow your career, building on your knowledge, consulting, and professional skills and be looking to establish and build enduring relationships with clients. Overall, you will be excited by a challenge, working with ambiguity, in a growth focused business area that offers plenty of flexibility and variety.

This role could suit applicants with current consulting experience, or those from a government or policy agency or with wider industry climate change experience, who are looking to make a bigger impact. Experience providing consulting or management services in climate change will be important, or a background in a corporate or government role providing sustainability or climate change related services.
- Be credible, comfortable and effective in communicating your knowledge and expertise on climate change
- Experience in climate risk assessment, adaptation planning, or similar or within another sustainability related discipline
- Ability to engage with clients leading to successful pursuit, bidding and winning of project commissions
- Able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
- Be adaptable and versatile to the wide range of work, opportunities and projects
- An ability to handle multiple workstreams or projects at the same time
- Ambitious to develop your career and specialist expertise
- Self-directed, critically minded and a problem solver
- Good facilitation skills
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification across law, business, finance, economics, engineering, statistics, environmental or related disciplines
