Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.
As a business unit within the Commission, Ara Kaiarahitanga | Leadership Development Centre is the primary delivery vehicle for system-wide leadership development.
We are looking for a Principal Advisor to work one on one with senior leaders and support structured development planning. They will also offer thought leadership to how leaders are developed across the public service and work alongside agency HR and capability specialists to build a strong network supporting leader development.
Are you
- seasoned at coaching senior leaders, adept at driving targeted conversations to challenge and support New Zealand Public Service senior leaders' development.
- known for building high trust relationships.
- passionate about leadership development and committed to making a difference across the Public Service.
Do you have?
- significant depth and breadth of technical expertise
- current certification from a recognised coaching body is preferred, as well as experience using a range of leadership frameworks and assessment tools to inform development conversations .
- proven track record of using coaching practices that are contemporary, professional, and ethical to enable an inclusive, supportive and safe environment.
- current knowledge of the complex environment that public service leaders operate in, including current talent management tools used across the public service.
- experience developing strategies and implementing tools to lift agency or system capability, with the ability to simplify the complex for a variety of audiences.
- a wide network across the public sector, with those working in agencies on capability development and contracted providers offering coaching services.
- proven experience developing and maintaining relationship with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and peers.
- a commitment to supporting agencies build their Māori Crown Relations (MCR) capability.
**About the team**:
As a business unit within the Te Kawa Mataaho, Public Service Commission, LDC is the primary delivery vehicle for system-wide leadership development. The LDC is focused on developing consistent learning experiences across the public service to build strong leadership capabilities and encourage shared mindsets in our leaders. This role works alongside senior leaders to coach and support their leadership development including connecting leaders with experiential learning opportunities.
