Te Pūriri o Te Ora - Auckland's Regional Cancer and Blood Service based at Auckland City Hospital is the leading provider of cancer care in the Auckland region, serving a large and varied population of around 1.7 million people. The Auckland City Hospital Radiation Oncology Department is the largest single site department in Australasia. Now is the time to join a modern and busy department with around 3500 new patients per year.
Te Pūriri o Te Ora offers VMAT/SABR, HDR Brachytherapy, TBI and systemic radioiodine therapy to our patients. These are delivered using six linear accelerators (Varian and Elekta), C-RAD SGRT systems, Dual Energy CT, kV therapy unit, RaySearch Treatment Planning System, Mobius, SNC and Octavius QA platforms and a Flexitron HDR. Construction of a new brachytherapy suite will begin next year. We are also an accredited training centre with an excellent reputation for training Medical Physics Registrars.
The role offers the opportunity to provide Physics support across the Radiation Therapy Service. This includes acceptance testing, commissioning and calibration of Radiation Therapy equipment, routine equipment QA, treatment planning support, patient specific QA, brachytherapy, use of unsealed sources and radiation safety. The successful applicant will also have a significant role in clinical development projects and in the implementation of new techniques and technologies in the service. Applications are welcome from newly qualified to experienced Senior Physicists.
