We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children's Hospital, located in central Auckland.
We are part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand's national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Ophthalmology Department looks after the eye health of both Te Toka Tumai and Waitematā patients - we see over 110,000 patients each year across the Auckland region. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that are passionate about providing patient centred care.
What is an Ophthalmic Technician?
An Ophthalmic technician provides ophthalmic and technical assistance using a wide range of diagnostic equipment to test and assess patients eye conditions.
Where do Ophthalmic Technicians work?
This is a multi-sited role across the Auckland region with rostered shifts covering Monday to Sundays inclusive. We care for our patients from a number of sites across Auckland and are growing every year.

What do you need to have to become an Ophthalmic Technician?
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to work alongside patients of all ages and backgrounds
Flexibility and the ability to work well within a team environment
If you thrive in a busy environment and are up for a new challenge this is a great way to start your career in healthcare. Previous experience in health care is helpful but not necessary, as we will provide training and support.
We have three, one year fixed term positions available.
