We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Treatment Plant Technician to join our Operational Excellence team at New Plymouth District Council on a permanent, full-time basis.
In this vital role, you’ll support the operation and maintenance of our water treatment infrastructure across the district, including the New Plymouth, Okato, Oakura, and Inglewood Water Treatment Plants and associated reservoirs. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible treatment of our district Drinking Water Supplies contributing to the health and wellbeing of our communities and natural environment.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua
**Compliance and Governance**: Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, Council policies, and procedures, maintaining full compliance across operational activities.
**Plant and Equipment Operation**: Operate treatment plants and pump stations safely and efficiently, in accordance with established protocols and performance standards.
**Maintenance and Site Management**: Perform routine and non-routine maintenance tasks, including general cleaning and groundskeeping, to required safety and quality standards.
**Process Monitoring and Control**: Conduct regular monitoring of treatment processes, including sampling, testing, and implementing process control measures as needed.
**Reporting and Documentation**: Maintain accurate operational records and provide timely reports and statutory returns as required
Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
Trade qualification and/or Certificate in Water Treatment is desirable
Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety Protocols and compliance Requirements
Experience in operating and monitoring Process plants and equipment is desirable
Proficient in Microsoft Applications with the ability to manage and analyse data effectively
