**About the Role**

We have the opportunity available to join our Te Ikaroa regional team as a **Kaiāwhina** in a permanent, full-time role.

Kaiāwhina support the promotion and protection the health and hauora of communities, with particular emphasis for Māori and other priority populations. Kaiāwhina uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles to enable individuals, whānau and communities to achieve health and wellbeing.

The primary purpose of the role is to work effectively with children, wāhine and their whānau and provides advice and support. Provide advocacy and support to children, wāhine and their whānau to access appropriate health and social services. Will develop a wide knowledge of services, establishing relationships with other networks of health and social service providers.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

**About you**

You'll be able to work collaboratively across the NPHS and organisational boundaries. You come with a strong drive to deliver and take personal responsibility and have an understanding of organisational dynamics and able to work effectively in a complex multi-professional workplace.
- NCEA level 2 or equivalent undergraduate certificate or diploma
- Previous experience working in the health sector or school environment including experience working with children and young people
- Current full New Zealand drivers' licence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
- With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
