**About the role**

This position has overall responsibility for defining and implementing Rocket Lab’s approach to delivering continued compliance to a variety of federal, regulatory, and customer standards, in order to meet Rocket Lab’s strategic goals. In this role, you will lead the Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Innovation Team to coordinate engagement activities with regulatory authorities on a global basis, conducting and leading research, providing feedback, and supporting the development of processes based on relevant legislation and regulations.

**Essential skills**
- 5+ years in a similar role in a regulated industry.
- Experience of working closely with regulatory bodies
- Good understanding of the needs of regulatory agencies, ideally with strong experience of direct interaction with regulators
- Must have a track record working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with other collaboratively and constructively.
- Strategic Focus/Vision to translate vision and strategy into a clear, actionable goals.
- Experience of creating or assessing documentation necessary to evidence safety and regulatory compliance
- Ability to work independently, within a team, and with other groups**.**

**Desirable skills**
- Tertiary qualifications in an engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental law/regulation, safety and/or risk management.
- Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry
