Fleet is an exciting and challenging area to work in - it is one of the most dynamic and interesting areas of our organisation, which helps provide and service one of the country’s largest vehicle fleets with over 3700 specialist vehicles.
The Manager - Fleet Investment and Delivery leads the hub where strategies are created and purchasing decisions are actioned. The role collaborates with the wider Fleet Service Group including the Manager - Fleet Technical and the wider business to make sound investment decisions.
This role is responsible for delivering project initiatives including the annual capability refresh programme, Government initiatives and wider AoG programmes of work. As such, you will have a high degree of autonomy in investment planning and oversight of critical NZ Police vehicle projects.
Your team will acquire and deliver a wide range of Police vehicles from motorbikes to Armed Offenders Squad and prisoner transport to name a few. The team will maintain positive relationships with partners and suppliers, other agencies and district leads, using your problem-solving skills to resolve minor to complex issues and provide advice to the business including executive and governance in the form of recommendations.
This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same, you will be part of an active team that ensures NZ Police vehicles all meet operational, technical and safety requirements through collaborating with the District Fleet Leads and Fleet Technical.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Leads the planning of all initiatives (including cost, scope, time, and quality requirements), determines resource requirements, develops programme schedules and budgets and identifies dependencies for delivery.
- Remains responsible for managing approved capital budgets typically up to $100m.
- Identifies and analyses change management impacts and options and works collaboratively with groups that are implementing programmes to ensure that programme objectives are met.
- Develop and maintain key internal and external fleet partnerships.
- Maintains Police Fleet Policies and Procedures to ensure adherence and alignment with Government Policy/direction and reflecting industry best practice.
- Represents Fleet Services at Governance and Executive Meetings as required.
- Monitoring compliance with existing contracts, identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing improvement programmes within Police and with our Business Partners to achieve a strong value for money service. Work in conjunction with the Fleet Service Manager to prepare and administer the division’s annual opex budget and monitor expenditures.

- An ability to interpret and produce effective reports, and documentation.
- An ability and willingness to travel as and when required.
