We are on the lookout for a superstar Adviser to join our Strategy and Planning team within the Strategy, Governance and Performance Directorate here at MPI.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
We need an agile and adaptable adviser who thrives working in a complex and deadline-driven environment. You will be someone who enjoys working across different workstreams to support your team and Directorate to deliver their best work.
You will have a keen interest in business and strategic planning, identifying organisational issues, and working with others to develop pragmatic ways to resolve them. With an eye for detail and the ability to see the bigger picture, you will be someone who takes pride in completing your work to a high standard. Experience in coordinating events will be an added bonus to support the work within the team to organise SLT engagements with external stakeholders and with MPI leaders and staff. Your ability to establish rapport and develop positive working relationships will be key to successful delivery and to influence key strategic work projects and programmes within your team, the Directorate, and across MPI. Your willingness to be curious, proactive, open, and engaging will support your effectiveness in providing inputs to improve and develop processes, and to problem-solve.
Mōu - About You
**To join us you will need**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in the public sector or a large organisation, understanding how to work in a large organisation in the public domain.
- A track record of achieving high quality results through your action orientation.
- Experience delivering in and across project workstreams.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and written.
- Experience working with computer packages, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel (intermediate level).

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About the Directorate
The Strategy, Governance and Performance Directorate is part of the Compliance and Governance business unit, and its work contributes to ensuring there is confidence in the operation and direction of MPI. Our primary internal customers are the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in their collective role as the leaders of MPI and as Governance members.
The Directorate supports the SLT to create a strong sense of common purpose throughout MPI and the primary industries. We achieve this by delivering organisational-wide strategies and enabling the implementation of these by organising SLT events and engagements. We oversee the MPI governance framework - ensuring decisions occur at the right time, at the right level, with the best advice. We contribute to MPI meeting its external accountability requirements through providing information on MPI's performance. As a result of our services, the Director-General (DG) and the SLT are well informed on the functioning and performance of the organisation and are supported to consider future challenges and opportunities.
