Looking for a new opportunity? The team at Selwyn Village are looking for friendly, hands-on Cooks and Catering Assistants who enjoys baking and interacting with resthome staff and residents.

Are you an experienced Cook or Catering Assistant seeking a role in this prestige site. These positions are for hardworking individuals that shares our passion for food and service. You will be working across a 7 day rotating roster of morning and evening shifts.

You will be based at Selwyn Village in Point Chevelier, Auckland catering for the independent retirement living option, Selwyn Village has its own rest home, dementia and hospital care.

With a set menu, you will be a hands-on Cook responsible for being part of the team that delivers the food service for all residents. You will love preparing, cooking and serving wholesome meals that are freshly produced every day. This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a cook/chef with relevant experience, or a relevant qualification either in culinary arts or professional cookery with 1-2 years‘ relevant experience.

The Catering Assistant position will work across the production kitchen and the on-site Café so barista style coffee making experience would be a distinct advantage. You will be helping the Kitchen Manager to make sure the kitchen stays clean and hazard-free.

To be successful in this role you need to be able to multitask and show good communication skills with both the Village Staff and our Chef manager and Catering services manager.

- an interest in baking
- an understanding of dietary requirements and food control regulations
- experience managing product quality standards and service delivery
- excellent communication skills and a flexible/can-do, committed attitude
- ability to work unsupervised and sole charge on the weekends.
- Barista coffee making skills would be beneficial

To be successful in these roles you need to have a friendly disposition and enjoy interacting with resthome staff and residents on a regular basis.
