**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The South Island Paediatric Ketogenic Dietitian will be working out of the Nutrition and Dietetics department at Christchurch Hospital Campus. They are seeking an Expert Dietitian with an interest in specialising in Paediatric Ketogenics. The South Island Paediatric Ketogenic Service comprises of a Keto Assistant, Keto Pharmacist, Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse and Paediatric Neurologists. You will be working closely with the Keto Assistant with ketogenic patients’ families in the community as well as acutely in the inpatient setting should the patient be admitted. You will be provided with the appropriate training and peer supervision you require.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- To continue to refine and develop ketogenic referral pathways to improve and enhance the continuum of care for patients, leading to safe and efficient patient outcomes whilst maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction.
- To deliver highly complex clinical services across the speciality of Ketogenics in accordance with accepted professional practices, standards and principles, including legal and ethical requirements.
- To maintain advanced cultural and professional standards and competencies.
- To act as a specialised clinical resource providing guidance, advice and education to patients, whanau/family, students, staff and the interdisciplinary team across the designated service areas.
- To evaluate clinical practice through reflection, audit and outcome measures to continually improve the Nutrition and Dietetics service to patients and whanau and promote evidence-based practice.
- To measure and monitor the impact of this service on planned care and reduction of waitlists/hospital admissions.

Your skills will include:

- A minimum of 5 years of clinical paediatric experience, desirable some Ketogenic or metabolic experience
- Ability to contribute to the strategic planning, direction, and development of the Paediatric Ketogenic Dietitian service by leading change through quality and service improvement activities.
- Be able to advise senior managers and other stakeholders on Nutrition and Dietetic service needs in paediatric nutrition to assist with the service's quality management, strategic development, and leadership.
- Be able to work towards contributing to formal research and lead the development of the knowledge base of the service and Ketogenic nutrition.
- Demonstrated ability to enact the specified core role capabilities outlined within this role description within your practice
