Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

**About the Role**

We are looking for a permanent part time (0.45FTE) Paediatric Oncologist to provide a comprehensive tertiary Paediatric Oncology service to patients in the South Island and lower North Island of New Zealand.

The Paediatric Oncologist appointed to this position will share responsibility for a cohort of patients with another part time paediatric oncologist with similar FTE, with on call also being shared between the two positions.

Attendance is expected at several regular meetings including Quality Meeting (monthly), Consultant Meeting (monthly), Management Meeting (2 monthly), Research Meeting (monthly), Planning Meeting (weekly), Multidisciplinary Meeting (weekly) and other meetings as appropriate.

**About the Team |**CHOC (Children’s Haematology Oncology Centre)**

At CHOC, we’re one of only two specialist treatment centres for childhood cancer in New Zealand, alongside Starship Hospital. Our dedicated team provides compassionate, world-class care to infants, children, and adolescents facing cancer, along with their families/whānau.

Our facility includes 11 in-patient beds, each with a private ensuite, and a Day Stay area where children continue their treatment journey with services such as supportive therapies, antibiotic infusions, blood transfusions, and routine check-ups.

CHOC is more than just a ward - we are a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that brings together paediatric oncologists, registrars, a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialists, ward nurses, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, researchers, and psychologists. Together, we work under one roof on Ward A6, ensuring seamless and holistic care for our young patients and their families.

**About you**

The successful applicant will need to hold FRACP or equivalent to enable registration with Medical Council New Zealand as a specialist paediatric oncologist, able to work unsupervised in a consultant role. This role includes participation in a 1:4 after-hours on-call roster ( sharing the 1:4 component with the colleague with the same FTE), resulting in a responsibility for inpatient care and on call weekend approximately 1 week in 8 and responsibility for the Day ward approximately 1 week in 8.
