**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**

Teaching will be focused on one large undergraduate course, ENCN281 Environmental Engineering. The Fellow will:

- Support development and delivery of tutorials
- Support development, delivery, marking of laboratories
- Support development and delivery of site visits and particularly the Field Activity Camp
- Support development, delivery, and marking of assignments
- Support development of recorded lectures and on-line quizzes
- Manage marks, student communication, on-line quizzes, etc.

Other teaching support will be agreed upon with the successful applicant.

Research will be focused on one of these four topic areas:

- ** Emerging contaminants in on-site and decentralised wastewater treatment systems**
Presence and fate; Role of monitoring, control, system design, maintenance
- ** Factors affecting the performance of on-site wastewater treatment**
Study of performance allied with suppliers; role of patterns of use and discharge factors
- ** Environmental impacts of leaching of organics from tyres**
Ecotoxicity, estrogenecity and microbial community analyses; leach tests; impact analysis
- ** Illegal dumping of solid wastes**
Data analytics and GIS, impact analyses, human factor analysis, policy development.

The successful applicant would develop, conduct, and lead research in a negotiated topic within one of these areas. Depending on the topic, the focus of the research activity can be laboratory work, field work, data analysis, modelling, and/or system analysis. The successful applicant would work alongside others and, over time, is expected to supervise undergraduate research topics.

**Mōu | Who You Are**
Applicants must have relevant academic experience, qualifications and demonstrable skills in Environmental Engineering. Applicants will have excellent fundamental knowledge of environmental engineering, excellent communication skills (both written and oral), effective time management, and a willingness to develop as a teacher. Applicants will have the skills and experience to succeed in the negotiated research topic. The appointee must also have excellent organisational, interpersonal and English language skills.

Applicants will be able to use this position to demonstrate an ability to develop top-quality, innovative research independent of PhD research, and will be able to develop teaching skills in a supportive environment.
