**About the role**:
The Commercial Leader will contribute to projects or work streams across MBIE. They will be accountable for ensuring that the services they provide to business groups deliver the optimum commercial outcome for the host agency, demonstrate best government procurement practice and complement implementation of procurement functional leadership.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Providing quality procurement and commercial advice to:

- Achieve higher quality commercial results
- Meaningfully engage with the market and individual suppliers
- Ensure compliance with the Government Procurement Rules and delivery of Broader Outcomes
- Inject pace/commercial resources into projects of high priority
- Support and development of in-house procurement and commercial capability.
- Oversight and leadership of a project or programme of work.
- Ability to drive a project to meet its deliverables and programme.
- Able to develop and implement commercial and procurement strategies and to look for innovative solutions when necessary.
- Foster good relationships with agencies and clients. Be a trusted advisor and deliver sound procurement and commercial outcomes.
- Work alongside stakeholder and constantly be developing procurement capability across MBIE
- Accurately assess timelines & workloads, and balances them accordingly. With the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Contribute to the MBIE's internal procurement and Commercial team objective of being a cost neutral part of F&P, ability to manage time and resources to meet a target budget
- Proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with a network of key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and focus on, meeting customer needs and identify opportunities and synergies with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent MBIE internal procurement views and protect the Branch and the Ministry’s reputation in all internal and external interactions.

**Key Requirements**:

- Experience in Commercial and Procurement:

- Be respected as a trusted advisor in your area of expertise, be commercially savvy with a proven track record for pragmatic problem solving
- Experience in dealing with ambiguity in a complex and dynamic environment
- Experience in leading or significantly contributing to the delivery of large projects
- Demonstrated ability to critically analyse complex commercial and procurement situations
- Be able to produce high quality commercial and procurement documentation clearly, articulately and succinctly
- A high level of self-motivation and willingness to help others
- Relevant qualification in your area of expertise i.e. legal, ICT, property, Construction and/or commercial/ business related discipline is desirable
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
