We are dedicated to provide international best practice in the field of radiation therapy using state of the art technology. The department has a wide-bore CT-simulator, 3 Varian Truebeam linear accelerators each with a six degrees of freedom couch, 1 Siemens multi-modality linear accelerator due to be replaced with a Varian Truebeam in the near future and a superficial X-ray unit. The department uses RayStation treatment planning system and MOSAIQ patient management system. There are well established and accredited IMRT, VMAT, DIBH and IGRT and SBRT programs. Our department is the first in New Zealand to be developing satellite radiation treatment units in our region (Hawke's Bay and Taranaki) which will be operational in the next few years to ensure our patients can access radiation treatment as close to home as possible.

The department is well supported with currently 3 registrars in training posts which will increase to 4 later this year, specialist nursing staff and a psycho-oncology service. We practice in collegial partnership with Medical Oncologists, Haematologists and Palliative Care Physicians. There is a strong culture of multidisciplinary meetings and an active clinical trials portfolio.

**Palmerston North Hospital** is a 350 bed secondary hospital which services the MidCentral region with a population of 168,000. It is a teaching hospital and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

The Regional Cancer Treatment Service covers a wider area including Hawke's Bay, Whanganui, Wairarapa and Taranaki with a total population of over 600,000.
