This is a great opportunity to join an amazing team of dedicated and caring midwives to further your skills and step up to the Specialist Midwife role within the High-Risk Maternity Team. **This is a permanent part time (0.8fte) position working 32 hrs/week, Monday to Friday, based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland**
The National Women's Health at Auckland City Hospital is one of the largest maternity hospitals in Australasia, with approximately 6,500 babies born each year; it is a tertiary referral centre whilst also providing primary maternity care to women in the central Auckland area.
As a Specialist Midwife, you will work in partnership with women with diabetes (GDM, type 1 and type 2) within both the Auckland city hospital and community settings.

**Your other duties include**:
- Providing care and education throughout their pregnancy
- Act as a resource for other health care providers in relation to managing maternal diabetes throughout the pregnancy continuum
Our midwives’ practice across the spectrum of maternity care from low risk women to those with complex medical and/or social needs. We do not provide intrapartum care.
**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
We are seeking an experienced midwife who has:
- Previous experience in managing women with diabetes is preferred but not essential.
- Interest and/or experience in diabetes
- Passion in providing health education to women and their whānau in ways that encourage women to actively participate in their own care.
- Show us your knowledge and passion to improve the outcomes of our community and make a difference There are opportunities for professional development through post graduate education and specialist experience.
