**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
The Te Kura Mātai Ahupūngao | Department of Physics is looking to hire a senior lecturer. Due to a gap in our teaching staff we aim to hire a physicist that specialises in the theory and/or simulations of condensed matter into a permanent role. The senior lecturer will play a leading role in delivering a strong teaching programme in physics and condensed matter within the department. They will be expected to drive their own research projects through working with other academic staff, students, and international collaborators. The senior lecturer will work with the teaching team in the Department of Physics and contribute to building and maintaining a productive, supportive, and equitable working and learning environment. This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), permanent role
Remuneration: SL1 - SL5; $116,108 - $133,386 per annum

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**
At Te Kura Mātai Ahupūngao | Department of Physics, we perform cutting-edge research across fundamental and applied physics. We work to understand how black holes are formed by massive stars, how the Earth’s climate is changing, and how bacterial colonies grow and thrive. We also use our knowledge of physics to create new tools and technologies, creating new devices for cubesats and building instruments to diagnose illnesses in living tissue.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**
The senior lecturer position will play a key role in research that aims to explore the behaviour of condensed matter, while also incorporating their experience into research informed teaching. We seek applicants with excellent collaborative skills with the ability to effectively mentor students, and who can contribute to an environment that supports equity and inclusion.

We are ideally seeking applicants with a PhD in physics or another relevant discipline as well as several years of relevant research experience including your PhD.
