Strong stakeholder relations and regulatory policy delivery focus
- Meaningful work that influences better outcomes for all New Zealanders
- Flexible working on offer, Wellington location

Who we are - Ko wai mātou
A great place to work. With great work to do.
We are Aotearoa New Zealand's financial markets conduct regulator, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) - Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko. We stand for a strong and trusted financial sector that treats people fairly.
FMA works closely with fellow domestic regulators, in particular The Reserve Bank of New Zealand, The Treasury, Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment and the Commerce Commission. The Council of Financial Regulators (CoFR) facilitates co-operation and co-ordination between its members to promote the effective regulation of New Zealand's financial system.

The Role - Te Tūranga
This role will be a key contact for building and maintaining relationships with MBIE, Treasury, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Commerce Commission, as well as other government agencies such as the XRB & MfE. You'll be joining our External Communications & Relations team and be stepping into a newly created role. You'll be responsible for working with agencies to ensure cooperation and collaboration means that regulators can mitigate the regulatory burden on firms.
We see this role having a strong focus on ensuring the FMA works well with other members of the Council of Financial Regulators. You'll become the FMA's lead and key person of contact on all CoFR matters. You'll also take the lead on bi-lateral engagement with these key agencies.
You'll build formal and informal networks across Government to understand agencies priorities and how the FMA can best assist them to meet their goals. You'll be across wider regulatory developments impacting all agencies involved in financial regulation in New Zealand.
You'll provide support to FMA leaders and key staff in their external engagements, demonstrating your ability to provide formal and informal briefings on issues moving at pace.

 About you - Ō pūkenga
First and foremost, you will be a relationship builder. You'll bring with you a background in stakeholder engagement, external communications or government relations with strong organisational skills and the willingness to proactively build a network.
Ideally, you'll have knowledge of NZ's financial regulatory landscape and an understanding of FMA's regulatory remit, however a strong curiosity and interest coupled with outstanding stakeholder relations skills is a good start.
With your outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you'll have the ability to work comfortably at all levels in an organisation (including senior leadership), as well as displaying a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

What we offer - Ngā painga
A strong emphasis is placed on life/work balance, enabling you to be at your best in every aspect of your life. We offer flexibility for working at home and in the office, plus a considerable annual leave allowance, an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you, generous parental leave provisions and a variety of regular wellness initiatives and activities.
We also offer extensive learning and development opportunities to ensure you're well equipped to thrive and nurture your growth mindset.
