Mō te tūnga | About the role
The New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is looking for a motivated investigator who understands that money is the biggest driver of crime.

The FIU based at PNHQ, are the recipient of suspicious activity information that is reported to us from the private financial sector. Using this information, we contribute to anti-money laundering efforts, the investigation of organised and transnational criminal groups, and the disruption of terrorist financing through supporting investigations by Police, Government agencies and international law enforcement.

This role would suit experienced investigators who enjoy working within a diverse team across a wide variety of crime types.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Proven ability to prepare and present (written and verbal) information, intelligence, and evidence in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to manage and drive complex investigations, using financial information, from initial stages through to prosecution as required
- To manage time effectively to meet competing demands through the prioritisation of risk
- Liaise across government agencies to obtain information and provide guidance to achieve public trust and confidence in the financial sector
- Display behaviors consistent with our core values and contribution towards the strategic goals of the Financial Crime Group and the New Zealand Police.

We are looking for an investigator who has broad investigative knowledge and experience. Previous experience with financial investigations or an understanding of these would be advantageous.

Working collaboratively with internal and external partners is a key focus and the successful applicant can expect to be heavily involved in investigations associated with multiple departments within Police and across our external partners.

**Additional Requirements**:Constabulary**:

- Position is open to Detectives or Detective Constables. Qualified Detectives will be remunerated at Band H
- Constabulary applicants must have a current PCT
- Transfer Costs Included
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment being made
- Must live in the Wellington region.

**Employee**:

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the delegation of Authorised Officer, including PCT fitness test
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment being made
