**Survivor Experiences Service**
Te Tari Taiwhenua will provide continued support to survivors of abuse in care through the Survivor Experiences Service from July 2023, following the closure of the survivor registrations and private sessions services delivered by the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.
The Survivor Experiences Service provides a safe, supportive, confidential place for survivors to share their experiences of abuse in care, to support healing, and now providing a new service to assist survivors to access and understand their care records.
Te Tari Taiwhenua will house and support the Service, which will be overseen by an independent board.
Survivor experiences shared with the service can be brought together to deepen understanding of abuse in care and how to prevent it. In sharing their experiences, survivors may also be referred to other services.
With assisting in accessing and understanding care records, we can help to provide understanding, and remove gaps in survivors history to help with the healing journey.
The Service will run from July 2023 through to the introduction of a new, permanent redress system in 2025.
**Senior Records Support Specialist role**
As the Records Support Specialist deliver high-quality survivor focused case management services as part of our Contact and Support Services team, you will support and upskill them with your background and knowledge or Records and Information Management practices.
With this strong focus on Information and Records Management, understanding relevant legislation regarding Request, Research and Release will be a key aspects of your daily tasks and activities.
You will work collaboratively with the team to ensure the safety of those who contact us, ensuring that they have all the information they need to participate in our service.
You will maintain and utilise your strong administration skills, updating our records management system, engaging with Records holders, to request information, and engaging with our survivors, and providing reporting to Manager
Requesting records from Records Holders, will require an awareness of Privacy Principals and the Privacy Act, Official Information Act Requests, & Public Records Act

- A case management background preferably in a community or mental health setting
- Well-developed awareness of Contact Centre principals and practices
- Trauma Informed approach to all your interactions with survivors
- Proven leadership experience in this Records/Information management space
- Strong interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, relationship management and the ability to positively influence others
- Demonstrated well developed self-management skills with the ability to stay calm and focused in challenging situ
