**What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua**
You will be providing technical support to a variety of research projects by helping to run and maintain field trials and laboratory based experiments. You will be hands-on with kiwifruit, avocado, and other fruit research projects by performing tasks such as photosynthetic measurements, tissue sampling and RNA extraction. You will work closely with project leaders and other staff to identify any problems, errors or key observations and provide suggestions for improvements. You will develop strong relationships with staff at other sites, occasionally traveling to support research projects.

To be successful in this role, the minimum qualifications required are:
- A bachelor's degree with horticultural/biological/biochemical sciences or similar. Additional relevant practical experience, knowledge and skills an advantage.
- Ability to provide technical assistance for research projects with a particular focus on fruit crop productivity and sustainability.
- Experience with the sampling, design, collection, analysis and processing of data from laboratory experiments and field trials and contributing to client reports.
- A current GrowSafe certificate and experience or knowledge basic kiwifruit and/or avocado orchard management would be an advantage
- A current full driver's licence.
