Korero mō te tūranga - About the role
As Principal Advisor Performance and Planning, you will develop and coordinate the delivery of the statement of strategic intentions and provide advice on how to execute and deliver the Te Aka Whai Ora organisational strategy, and corresponding planning, performance management and reporting, and accountability processes to the Group Manager, Performance and Planning and Te Aka Whai Ora Senior Leadership Team. You will will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across Te Aka Whai Ora and external with key partners. Key stakeholders for the development and delivery of our strategic performance include Finance, People and Capability, Legal, Ministerial, Communications, Te Whatu Ora Strategy, Performance and Planning team, Manatū Hauora System Performance and Monitoring team and others. You may from time to time Undertake project work across the Directorate or Business as required.
Te whiwhinga mahi|The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for you to lead and manage the organisational accountabilities and strategic performance for Te Aka Whai Ora. Support the development of, and actively promote the organisation's purpose and future direction, support capability building around organisational and strategic performance, oversee performance reporting and business planning, proactively identify organisational risks and provide advice on mitigations to leadership and actively seeking out opportunities to influence and shape the content of organisational strategy.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is essential in a relevant specialist field AND experience in a senior public sector role in a performance and planning and/or monitoring and evaluation setting is highly desirable
- Recognised credibility in strategy and/or performance within the public or private sector(s) - Experience in and strong knowledge of Government accountability processes
- Strong background in policy, budget and performance management processes
- Able to understand top level management strategic issues
- Proven ability to manage key relationships at a senior level
- Proven analytical and writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Flexibility and an ability work autonomously to make decisions
**Skillset**:
- Strong analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills, including in social service business and policy analysis
- Highly effective communication skills - able to communicate concisely and clearly in all media, able to adapt style to meet the needs of the audience
- Strong partnership builder, able to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of an organisation
- Exercises sound judgement and political sensitivity (high degree of political nous)
- Strong leadership skills - Able to lead, encourage and motivate others, in both a formal and informal context
- Self-starter with initiative - is energetic, determined and highly motivated, committed to excellence
- Able to work under pressure and keep on top of developments within the field and implement changes
- Organises and schedules own work to meet competing demands/deadlines without compromising on quality
- Proven credibility, integrity and professionalism - always demonstrates these characteristics
