Ara Whiwhi Mahi - The opportunity
Our Finance Services team provides accounting and financial support, analysis and advice across Te Tari Taake. We are looking for a senior people leader to lead, coach and mentor a team of professional accountants, and provide thought leadership in finance related decisions across the organisation.
There are three portfolios within Finance Services, and this role sits within the Financial Advisory team.
As a proven finance business partner and accountant, you will be responsible for:

- provide strong financial insight and value to our customers and stakeholders whilst contributing to capability uplift
- coaching, collaborating, leading, planning and executing initiatives including across networked teams, taking accountability for financial insights and stakeholder management
- identifying and analysing financial risks, mitigations, pressures and efficiencies and development opportunities
- building individual and organisational capability by taking a system-wide view, collaborating across IR
- identifying strategic risks and contributing to the development of accounting and financial policies, strategies and sustainability to ensure quality customer experiences and to protect IR's integrity
- interpreting IR's technical position on emerging financial issues and trends to support the right outcomes for customers, IR and the government
- advising on complex technical accounting and financial decisions that have strategic significance to support the right outcomes for customers, IR and the government
- leading and owning relationships across IR and the sector.

**To be successful in this position you will have**:

- business partnering experience with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, both within Te Tari Taake and across government
- the confidence to think and deliver at both the strategic and day to day level
- the desire to add value to the organisation and be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- strong communication, influencing and networking skills
- The ability to challenge the status quo and champion change
- Chartered Accountant or relevant qualification and/or experience.
