My client is a highly successful New Zealand-owned company for over 50 years, based in Wellington. They are a well-established manufacturer of agricultural fencing products, abattoir equipment and harvest blades, supplying to both domestic and export markets. With a reputation for understanding their customers, they are continuously delivering the best results to the market.

The company is looking to bring on board a sharp and motivated Design Engineer to join its Upper Hutt based team.

**About the role**:

- Develop and manage end to end design processes.
- Provide technical engineering drawings and concepts
- Assist in the ongoing development of the company's product range, contributing innovative ideas and technical expertise.
- Work closely with the R&D team to translate design concepts into practical and functional solutions.
- Liaise with the production department to address design-related issues and optimise workshop efficiency.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation, including technical specifications, design changes, and project progress reports.
- Understanding of design cost efficiencies to maximise business profits.
- Managing the development process, including tracking progress and costs, and keeping clients informed.

**About you**:

- You have a minimum of 5 years working experience as a Design Engineer preferably in the manufacturing industry including machine, plastic or tool design with a trade qualification.
- Practical experience as a toolmaker would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in CAD and CAE software (e.g., SolidEdge, AutoCAD) for creating 2D and 3D models and workshop drawings.
- You have the ability to control end to end design, building of tools and machinery
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong mathematical skills, creative flair and good visual and spatial awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Able to effectively present information to management.

**Benefits**:
House of work are Monday to Friday, 7:45am - 4.15pm. On offer is a generous hourly wage, any OT is paid at a flat rate, laptop and phone, work uniform and all PPE provided.
