Mō te tūnga | About the role
As the Senior Advisor to the Prison Director, your role is to provide strategic advice and guidance to the Prison Director around management, operational or department issues. You will lead the development of critical communications and build effective working relationships with public and private sector colleagues and community stakeholder groups.
**Other key areas of responsibility for this position are**:
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and deliver strategies and initiatives
- Undertake performance analysis, risk/issue management, preparation of Ministerial, Parliamentary questions and other documentation on behalf of the Prison Director
- Leadership of projects and investigative requests for the Prison
- Based on international best practice, Tikanga and Kaupapa Maori and our own research Ara Poutama Aotearoa recognises that we have specific needs and sets an approach for Corrections that will give those in our care, treatment, encouragement, counselling, skills and support they need to shape better futures for themselves, their tamariki and whanau.
Mōu | About you
To be effective in this role you will be calm under pressure, flexible, with a natural antenna for spotting risk and adjusting work direction to meet critical needs. You will be an influencer, with the ability to balance long term pieces of work with short term operational needs.
With a natural style to work collaboratively and top-notch relationship management skills you will be someone who recognises the importance of the work of the Department in particular, you will have a genuine interest for working within a site that is focussed on achieving objectives and outcomes for Maori, you must have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of Maori Pathways and be able to articulate and demonstrate this.
**Along with the above you will also need to demonstrate**:
- Proven experience at a senior advisory level
- Strong business acumen and strategic and critical thinking to support operational capability
- Ability to influence and drive key senior stakeholder relationships
- Risk management and mitigation
- Hōkai Rangi at the forefront of everything you think and do.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary range for this position is $91,953 - $129,816, the midpoint is $108,180. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
