Cardiologist Non Invasive Adult - up to 1 FTE negotiable.
Cardiologists in Tairāwhiti make a difference in a small community as part of a dynamic team of professionals providing a high quality, timely and evidence based cardiology service.
Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti is seeking a non-invasive Adult Cardiologist with skills in non-invasive cardiac imaging to provide support for our Echocardiogram services and clinical oversight of Echocardiogram reports to meet New Zealand guidelines. Whilst not essential experience in CT coronary angiography (CTCA) and Cardiac MRI is desirable. Expertise in clinical trials is desirable.
The service aims to develop the roles of Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), accompanied by an uplift in Cardiac CNS capacity to enhance the nurse led community based cardiac care and prevention.
The cardiology service in Tairāwhiti is a small dynamic team. Our overarching aim is to improve cardiac health for the people of Tairāwhiti and reduce inequities of health outcomes experienced by people living in an isolated and rural community.
Day to day responsibilities include outpatient clinics, ward consultation, reporting investigations, providing support for clinical colleagues, cardiac physiologists, cardiac technicians and echocardiography triaging and protocoling imaging requests.
The person will participate in service development and implementation alongside and interface with Tairāwhiti SMO Physicians and Waikato Cardiology to facilitate timely and appropriate cardiac care as part of the regional planning.
The post-holder will play a key role in the design, build and delivery of the District wide cardiac project “Heart Hauora Tairawhiti - Save a Thousand Lives”. This project will involve primary and secondary care of the community and working with various agencies including Hauora Tairawhiti, PHOs, Iwi, Local MPs and District Council to address lifestyle challenges and initiate early detection, prevention and intervention.
