Nurse Director, Nursing Workforce Development

We are the largest District in New Zealand, providing services to a population of approximately 630,000. Comprising of five inpatient sites across the West and North of Auckland and stretching to the community in Rodney, we are committed to delivering the best care for everyone for our community.
We are looking for an innovative and experienced senior nurse with strong managerial skills and proven leadership ability to join the Nursing Development Service team.
**Some of your responsibilities will include**:
- Leads the team that coordinates programmes for Health Care Assistants, Enrolled Nurses, Return to Practice and Nurse Entry to Practice
- Oversees the post graduate education processes with the Administrator/PG Application Coordinator
- Co-leads the Learning Framework monitoring processes
- Co-leads support for the Nurse Educators group
- Coordinates/delegates Waitemata Health participation in Schools of Nursing Advisory work
- Leads the workforce planning for nursing with the charge nurse managers and senior nursing team. This includes strong retention strategies, development of robust skill mix and advanced practice.
- Provide leadership to the Nurse Development Service team to achieve a team of motivated and well-trained staff providing coaching, development opportunities, ensuring appropriate recognition, reward and taking corrective action where necessary.
- Ensures that all staff meet requirements of the Professional Development and Recognition Programme and Health Practitioner Competence Assurance Act
**We are looking for a senior nurse**:
- New Zealand registration and practising certificate
- Effective communication skills
- A forward thinking approach
- Previous exposure to project management, sound knowledge of clinical governance and change management
- Significant clinical experience with at least 3 years at management level
- Strategic and exceptional leadership skills
- Experience in dealing with complexities of a large diverse organisation
- A background in a senior leadership (operational or professional) role within the Health Sector
