After over 20 years with the store, our Service Deli Manager is retiring. Over the past few months, she has worked incredibly hard to increase our offering and create an exceptional buying experience for our customers by providing new and innovative products and expanding our cabinet selection. These are big shoes to fill, but as she is not leaving us until later in the year, there will be plenty of time for you to learn how things are done around here before you are left to add your own touch of flair. Overall, this role will require you to effectively maximise sales for the Deli and Fish Bar and achieve specified profit margins whilst managing expenses and the department team in line with store and banner processes and policies.

**The Role**:

- Ensure sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.
- Control ordering for the department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems, optimising stock holding levels.
- Effectively manage your team and ensure compliance with store policies relating to employment, attendance, health and safety, food safety, training, leave, discipline etc., such that all staff in the department know they are being treated consistently.
- Ensure all team members receive an appropriate induction / orientation to the department and receive appropriate ongoing training support.
- Maintain food safety and health and safety compliance in the department.
- Ensure merchandising and sales practices comply with the Fair-Trading Act.
- Prep and display a range of products for our serve over cabinet and hot food section in line with food safety standards.
- The all-important team work to ensure we can get the work done.
- The role also includes the usual Service Deli back and front of house tasks.

**What are we looking for**:

- Retail experience to supervisory level or previous department management experience.
- Someone who is passionate about, and experienced in working with, food. Proven experience working in a Service Deli is an advantage.
- Reliable, honest and be a good team player.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Confidence and maturity to work unassisted at times.
- Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
