**Location**: Wellington Regional Hospita/Hutt Valley Hospital/Kenepuru Hospital

**Contract**: Two full-time positions permanent, full-time positions (40 hours per week). The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the on-call roster.

**Salary**: PSA Allied Level 3 Hauora Maori, Scale $65,000 - $69,000
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The primary purpose of these roles is to work with the rest of the Whānau Care Services team to support patients and their whānau by collaborating with healthcare workers in the hospital, to provide cultural support.

**We have two roles available**:

- Wellington Hospital - Hapu Mama, Children and Adults
- Hutt Valley and Kenepuru - one position working across both in Children (Hutt Valley) and Adult (Hutt Valley and Kenepuru)Duties include:

- Facilitating access for Māori to services
- Providing cultural support to enable delivery of patient
- and whānau-focused care. This may include working alongside clinically focused staff.
- Actively participating in the Whānau Care Services team.
- Supporting the management of Te Whare Whānau o Te Pēhi Parata Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The combined Māori Health Strategy guides our activity to achieve health equity and optimal health for Māori by 2030. Our efforts to bring about change in Māori health outcomes are part of a broader public health plan that is well described in the Ministry of Health - s Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan.
Our Strategy focuses on equity as a value which underpins everything we do, from system change through workforce development and funding prioritisation through commissioning of services. The pathway to achieving health equity for Māori requires significant shifts, not just in the way we operate and in the processes and policies we follow, but also in our attitude and our thinking.
Delivering on the key outcomes outlined in the Māori Health Strategy is fundamental to achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
Moū - About you

**Skills & Experience we are looking for**:

- A fluent speaker of Te Reo Māori would be preferred
- Comfortable in Tikanga Māori and situations where Te Reo Māori is being spoken.
- Good communication skills and able to sit and listen to whānau.
- Ability to work without supervision, to be highly self-motivated and prioritise customer service in a positive manner.
- Recent experience within a healthcare setting dealing with clients/whānau.E pā ana ki a tatou - About us
