ABI Rehabilitation is the specialist provider of intensive adult in-patient brain injury rehabilitation for 85% of the population of New Zealand, serving 15 of the 20 DHBs. We have attained accreditation with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International an international gold standard for person-centered, quality rehabilitation.

Our Wellington Intensive/Inpatient service is seeking experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapists to join our skilled and supportive inter-professional team.

This role will provide speech and language therapy services for clients with acquired brain injury from the immediate post-acute phase through to community re-integration.
- cognitive-language and cognitive-communication assessment, management of expressive and receptive language difficulties, feeding and swallowing, motor-speech, and augmentative-alternative communication
- implementing and evaluating rehabilitation plans and strategies
- providing education and training to family/whnau
- contributing to outcome measures
- report writing
- ongoing training and development of our staff

Knowledge in cognitive-communication disorders, dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, augmentative-alternative communication devices, and cognitive rehabilitation is required. Having tracheostomy management experience would be an advantage, but not essential. Previous experience in acquired brain injury rehabilitation is highly preferred.
