**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role**

To support these aspirations, we are excited to be one of few energy companies in the world embarking on several new geothermal projects in Taupo. Our newest project within our Major Project Group is Te Huka 3 - an additional unit at our existing Te Huka geothermal power station. This unit will generate enough electricity to power up to 60,000+ homes. Earthworks are already underway and we need a Project Engineer to oversee the owners scope (Contact Energy) of works.

Your remit will be wide; you’ll be responsible for the above ground geothermal steamfield facilities, including cross country pipelines, separation plant, electrical and controls systems, common services building and all other ancillary requirements outside of the EPC Power Station scope.

Your key goal will be to support the Project Manager and deliver the works safely, on schedule, to a high standard and to budget.

As a Project Engineer you will coordinate across all project departments and disciplines, monitor progress, prepare procedures, document all communication and meetings, and identify and evaluate project issues, risks, and opportunities.

Reporting into the Project Manager, Owners Scope you will be part of a fantastic, close knit team who bring a passion to Contact’s vision to help build a better Aotearoa by leading the country’s decarbonisation.

This is a high pressure project and communication is everything. You’re a pro when it comes to effective communication - you’re calm, concise and are able to connect the dots and provide context. You’re a natural influencer and always keep people in the loop whether it be in a formal meeting, over a scone at morning tea or out and about on the construction site.

You understand that projects are more than just an individual, they require a village of committed and skilled people. You thrive in a collaborative team and pride yourself in your ability to have honest and open conversations no matter how difficult. You’re highly motivated, outcome driven and willing to lend a hand no matter what the task to get the job done.

Qualifications wise you’ll have a degree in engineering (we’re open to what discipline you bring) or equivalent qualifications.

We’d like to see project engineering experience within the engineering, procurement, and construction/ construction management (EPC/CM) industry. Ideally, you will have worked on construction and/or commissioning field assignments on the client or contractor side. If you have power generation particularly in the geothermal sector, that’s an added bonus.

This role is currently fixed term for approximately 2 years, however we are open to permanent opportunities as well.
