We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
We are looking for a suitably experienced senior clinician (medicine, allied health or nursing) to provide clinical leadership and effective management to four adult Community Mental Health services, Segar House and Service Coordination.
Adult Community Mental Health Services
**Te Toka Tumai has four adult community mental health centres**: Manaaki House (Panmure), Cornwall House (Greenlane), Taylor Centre (Ponsonby) and Kainga Tiaki (Mt Eden). The Community Mental Health Services (CMHCs) provide a range of services for adults with moderate to severe mental illness or psychological distress, including crisis assessment. Services are provided via multi-disciplinary teams which include psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers.
Segar House - Rau Aroha
Rau Aroha means “gift of peace” or “multitude of compassion”. This team offers an intensive specialist psychotherapy service that provides treatment for patients experiencing long term mental ill health. They offer individual and group therapy and utilise a range of psychological and psychotherapy approaches. Segar House aims to offer an intensive therapy experience for their service users.
Service Coordination
Service Coordination in Te Toka Tumai is a Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) service under the National Service Specifications on Tier 3 of the Ministry of Health Service Framework for Mental Health and Addictions. Funding and Planning operate contracts in the district, all of which have criteria for access. Service Coordination provides objective needs assessment and service coordination to best match the mental health and addictions needs of people and refer for service provision.
**As the Service Clinical Director you will**:
- Lead and ensure the clinical quality and safety of the service
- Safeguard high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish and develop in line with the vision for the directorate
- Provide leadership and management of the service's clinical workforce fostering appropriate succession planning, excellence in practice standards and professional conduct
- Actively provide clinical leadership and effective management of the service's performance and drive productivity improvements
- Manage projects as allocated by the Co-Directors of Mental Health and Addictions
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary clinical teams to support the achievement of overall organisational strategies, goals and values. The role requires someone with a collaborative and positive working style who is committed to developing a strong team that promotes quality outcomes for service users. You will have a strong personal drive and determination to deliver improvements and a sound understanding of regional services.
You must be clinically qualified in a relevant field of practice and registered in New Zealand (or eligible for registration), and hold a current annual practicing certificate.
The particular clinical responsibilities allocated to this role will be dependent on the clinical background and experience of the successful applicant. These will be agreed with a successful applicant prior to appointment.
