**The Opportunity**
We are seeking an outstanding and experienced Palliative Medicine specialists to join our progressive team of Palliative Medicine Specialists.
**Key responsibilities of the role**:
- Delivery of high-quality clinical care to patients referred to the Palliative Care service.
- Attends and participates in multidisciplinary team meetings including case conferences and reviews.
- Provides clinical supervision and teaching for junior medical officers assigned to the service.
- Provides advice and support to Nurse Specialists, other Nursing and Allied Health staff and primary care clinicians.
- Maintains comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients under the physician’s care.

**About our Service**
The Waikato Palliative Care Program, currently accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, encompasses two sites: Waikato Hospital and Hospice Waikato, providing specialist Palliative Care across the Waikato Region.
Hospice Waikato is the main community palliative care provider to the region comprising a 10-bed inpatient unit along with Rainbow Place, NZ’s only specialist Children’s Hospice facility. Hospice Waikato also provides an at home service, a rural outreach programme, plus outpatient clinics. Patients and /whanau/family of Hospice have access to a full range of psychosocial and spiritual support through illness and bereavement.
The specialist will work on the hospital consult team and cover both sites after hours. The program has a close relationship with the University of Auckland’s Waikato Clinical School. There is a requirement for vocational registration or the potential vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
