Te Whatu Ora-Health New Zealand and Te Aka Whai Ora-Māori Health Authority will together shape the delivery of health services in Aotearoa for generations to come and will form the core of a modern and integrated service looking after the needs of all our whānau. Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

The Long-Term Conditions team sits within the Commissioning Team of Te Whatu Ora. Long-term conditions (also referred to as chronic conditions) are a government priority and have been identified in the recently released Te Pae Tata. Contribute to transforming the future of health in this National Programme Manager role.

You will initially focus on palliative care, taking on a programme of work that will contribute to developing a nationally-consistent model for paediatric and adult palliative and end-of-life care that is integrated across primary and community health. This multi-faceted programme will strengthen the equitable provision of palliative care across Aotearoa.

This is a national level programme and you will have a hands-on role in driving the planning, development and implementation of the work. You will be managing five or more workstreams and working with a diverse number of stakeholders day-to-day. You will work closely with our Christchurch based Senior Advisor - Long Term Conditions.

Mōu | About you

You are a confident Programme Management professional who will bring a breadth of experience in programme and project management disciplines. During your career you have undertaken multiple national or large-scale programmes, with multiple workstreams.

Ideally, you will have a background of working in the Palliative Care Sector and have a working knowledge of the Palliative approach to care. You're able to operate in an ambiguous and shifting environment and be nimble in adapting and refining our programme approach. This role needs you to think (critically) on your feet and communicate well with internal team members, stakeholders, and external partners.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
